- Minimum dimension for upload: 2048 x 1152 pixels with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Safe area for text and logos at minimum dimension: 1235 x 338 pixels.
- Recommended dimension (especially for TV): 2560 x 1440 pixels.
- Maximum file size limit: 6 MB.
Because YouTube displays a single uploaded banner across different devices, views differ substantially between smartphones, tablets, computers, and TVs. Keeping logos and text inside the central working safe area (~1546 x 423 px at 2560x1440) helps avoid clipping. Always verify your final alignment inside YouTube Studio's preview window before publishing.
Managing Export Formats & File Size (<6MB)
YouTube accepts banner uploads in PNG, JPG, and WebP formats up to 6MB. While PNG produces lossless sharpness for graphic logos, high-resolution photographic artwork exported as 32-bit PNG can occasionally exceed 6MB. If your downloaded file exceeds 6MB:
- Switch the format dropdown in our tool from PNG to JPEG before exporting.
- Or use an image compressor to reduce file size without visible degradation.
Source Image Quality Considerations
While this tool converts any image to a 2560x1440 pixel canvas, upscaling a small or low-resolution photo (such as 800x600) will not add detail and may result in softness. For the sharpest results on high-DPI displays, start with high-resolution artwork of at least 1920x1080 px or higher.
