How to Resize a YouTube Banner for All Devices

Because YouTube uses a single uploaded image across mobile screens, desktop monitors, and connected TVs, views differ substantially across screen sizes. Keeping your text and logo in the center safe zone prevents them from being cropped out on smaller screens.

Step 1: Choose a High-Resolution Image

While the minimum upload size is 2048 x 1152 px, starting with higher resolution artwork (such as 1920x1080 or 2560x1440) prevents pixelation on high-DPI displays.

Step 2: Upload to TubeCreatorKit Banner Resizer

1. Open the free YouTube Banner Resizer.
2. Drag and drop your JPG, PNG, or WebP image into the editor.
3. The tool places your image onto a 2560x1440 canvas with working safe-area guideline overlays.

Step 3: Align Elements in the Safe Area

1. Use the Zoom Slider to scale the image.
2. Drag to position the central focal point within the green working safe-area box (~1546 x 423 px).
3. Ensure text, logos, and critical branding sit within this central box.

Step 4: Export and Verify File Size

Select your export format (PNG or JPEG) and click Download Banner (2560x1440). The downloaded file excludes the guideline overlay and will calculate its final file size to ensure it remains within YouTube's 6MB upload limit.

Step 5: Upload & Confirm in YouTube Studio

1. Open YouTube Studio.
2. Navigate to Customization ➔ Branding.
3. Click Upload under Banner image and select your downloaded file.
4. Inspect YouTube's interactive preview to verify your text is completely visible in the "Viewable on all devices" area, then click Publish.
